Developing a Comprehensive Treatment and Intervential Plan
A treatment or interventional plan, which is a collection of dietary modification, phytochemical or nutritional supplements, repositioned pharmaceutical drugs, targeted cancer therapies, chemotherapies, immunotherapy, thermotherapy, or acupuncture, will be developed specifically for each patient so that treatment results are the best that they can be. This custom-made plan is influenced by the patient’s current life style, overall health, type and stage of cancer, as well as their functional or immune status. It also takes into consideration information from other specialists or consultants.
Real Time Monitoring Treatment Response and On Going Support
Patients will undergo a series of blood testings and CT, PET or ultrasound exams to monitor their response to the above treatments or interventions.
Most people undergoing our treatment are able to continue with their normal activities. Some may need to adjust their level of activity temporarily during treatment if recommended. Good nutrition during therapy is essential to promote healing and recovery.
In addition to the care and information that patients receive, we can provide information for local support groups in the community. Many cancer support groups and national organizations cater to all cancer types.
“Integrative medicine is a healing oriented medicine that takes into account the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.”
A. Weil, M.D., University of Arizona
At the Institute of Integrative BioOncology (I2B), we are guided by the science of medicine and are experts in the art of incorporating complementary therapies into the healing approach, while adhering to the highest standards of professionalism and national guidelines set forth by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). This combined or “integrative” way of practicing oncology is what makes I2B so unique–and effective. We provide care that is simultaneously compassionate and state-of-the-art. At I2B, we don’t think of these services as alternative practices. We consider them to be integrative, combining conventional medical theories and treatments with traditional medicine from many cultures, therapies that strengthen the body-mind-spirit connection, and treatments that provide an adjunct to standard medical practice
At I2B, we help ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients by bringing together a broad range of services and technologies. I2B’s medical expertise is based on over 10 years of clinical experience and research in the development of the most effective and least toxic cancer treatments.
We take a keen interest in your health by offering an all-inclusive consultation service with one goal: To maximize your chance of survival. The all-inclusive consultation includes a review of your condition, and explanations of your cancer biology, standard treatments with chemotherapies and immune therapies, new research related to your cancer, complimentary medicines that fit your tumor biology and your general health, interventions with off-label use of FDA-approved safe and non-toxic drugs, along with detailed discussions of possible nutritional interventions with natural phytochemicals, phototherapies, hyperthermia therapies, anti-oxidants, and pro-oxidants. Our objective is to foster synergy between medical research and clinical practice, and to ensure that promising scientific discoveries are applied to develop new treatments for you on a case-by-case basis.
We provide coordinated, compassionate, and leading-edge care designed and customized to meet each patient’s treatment and personal needs.
Your care is supervised by highly-trained and experienced physician-scientists and acupuncturists who are focused on the well-being of the patient as a whole. Personalized medicine has always been the goal of all medical systems, traditional Chinese or western medicine. For example, practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine prescribe personalized medicine based on the principles of Yin and Yang, tongue and pulses. However, we lacked the tools to deliver it to our patients based on the scientific basis. Now, we propose that the therapy can be tailored to the patient’s individual genomic vulnerability. Still, we face enormous challenges in the proper use of the huge amount of information about each individual patient, derived from the tumor genome and the host genome, and in the application of the most appropriate therapy based on the pathway imbalances and phenotypic profiles identified by interrogating the tumor genome with agents that target specific pathways that are perturbed in the tumor. Personalized medicine is not a promise of the future; it is fast-emerging as the current state in cancer therapeutics. At I2B, innovations based on genetic and molecular designs offer patients better care at a lower cost, because changes related to the cancer itself or to the treatments can be predicted sooner, diagnosed more accurately, and treated more effectively.
We offer advanced, multi-dimensional cancer care across treatment modalities, delivering an exceptional standard of excellence for all patients. Our interventions are designed to help patients understand their disease biology, and manage their illness through knowledge and will, with access to the right combinations of treatments, all while they receive the vital psychological and spiritual support they need to flourish.
Our physician-directed, evidence-based, and science-informed cancer care program is one-of-a-kind and truly integrates complimentary and traditional therapies in the care plan for every patient.
